Guru, together with DJ Premier, formed Gang Starr and their fusion of New York swing jazz and Hip Hop won them many fans over the years. The heavily jazz influenced Jazzmatazz albums, also saw Guru collaborating with artistes such as Roy Ayers, Bob James, Junior Reid and many more.
As a pioneer of Hip Hop/Jazz music and a master of lyrical wizardry, Guru was a role model and a source of influence and inspiration, for young and aspiring MCs. Today marks a dark day in the history of the music world. Hip Hop has lost one of its prodigal sons and the world has lost one of its greatest MCs ever. You may have left this world but you leave behind a legacy for those after you, to look up to and learn, forever. You will be deeply missed. R.I.P. The Legendary Guru.
