Black Steel

We all know how covers can some times, make a track that was originally good, suck. However, I am pretty sure, this track definitely ain't one of those 'smother-the-cover-with-the-covers' rendition. On the contrary, this track retained the flavour of the original while injecting a different style to it. Like fusion cuisine.



The track, Black Steel by Tricky, from his debut album, Maxinquaye, was actually a cover (a mighty good one at that, if I may say) of Public Enemy's 'Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos'.

The track featured one of Tricky's (if you ask me) greatest muse, Martina-Topley Bird on vocals. She did a fantastic job on vocals, replacing the rapping with singing.

Due to 'copyright issues', a certain corporation (one that has been over-riden by profits and paranoia of losing it) has disabled the embedding of the original video. So I have attached a pretty good live version of the track instead.
