So, the slick, smooth and cool Digable Planets are gonna be starting a new tour on 13th October (too bad they ain't coming here) and as a lil teaser, Digable Planets and DJ Alex J have put together a mixtape of classic hip hop tracks including their own, some remixed, unreleased or are being heard for the first time.
Although, from the original lineup, only Butterfly and Doodlebug remains, you just don't and can't discount them because their lyrics and flow are in a league of its own. I quote from the Digable Planets track, 'Rebirth of the Slick', they(we) be to rap, what key be to lock. Indeed.
The mixtape is probably one of the best Hip Hop mixtapes I have heard this year. The track selections and the flow of the mixtape is pretty good and ever since I got it, it has been on my playlist whether I am at home or on the road. You gotta listen to it to know what I mean.
