It is a known fact that a turntablist's boon and bane is his equipment (specifically it is the issue of portability). Other practitioners of the elements of Hip-Hop do not face the same constraint. For an MC or a beatboxer, they can bust out rhymes and beats anywhere and everywhere, even without a mic. A B-Boy/B-Girl would depend on the greatest machine ever made, the human body and of course, a dance floor. A graffiti artist's weapon of choice would be his spray cans and the world is his canvas.
Unfortunately, turntablists do not enjoy the same luxury as the rest. A 'simple' setup would require 2 turntables, a mixer and speakers. However, as they would always say, where there is a will, there is a way. A couple of years back, Vestax and legendary turntablist, Q-Bert, came up with the

Lo and behold! By some weird twist of fate and pure ingenuity, here comes the revolutionary Scratchophone! It has built-in speakers and all you need is an AC power supply to power it up. In other words, you can carry it around and scratch wherever and whenever. Sweet! Weird as it may look, I still think it is a bloody brilliant idea.
