If you haven't heard, we are just a couple of days away one of the biggest b-boy jams in the region, the Radikal Forze 13th Year Anniversary B-boy Jam 2011. The b-boys & b-girls have already started streaming into Singapore and it's been pretty hectic for a lotta people. The vibe and energy among the local b-boys & b-girls is just pure madness as they have been hitting the floor, practicing hard and stepping up their game.
Radikal Forze Crew has been going on at this for 13 years but what many people outside the scene do not know was that b-boying has actually been around in Singapore since the 1980s due to the influence of movies such as 'Breakdance'. Unfortunately, the scene died down in the 90s. The whole system was kick-started when Radikal Forze Crew was formed in 1997.
"B-boy Documentary Singapore" is the blood, sweat and tears of Tosh Rock (Superfly Production, Inertia Crew, Radikal Forze) and encapsulates the history of the b-boying scene in Singapore, from when it started to its unfortunate demise and from the revival to what it is today, a strong b-boying community.
I always had something for local independent documentary productions, not only for the sake of supporting my fellow Singaporeans but it is always something which I can relate to, even more so, since I started learning DJing 6 years ago. So, do check out "B-boy Documentary Singapore" for a glimpse into the local b-boy scene and show some love for Tosh Rock and the b-boys & b-girls, yeah? Remember, history is always a beautiful thing and history is knowledge. Peace. = )
