Koflow Presents: The Turntable Instrumentalist - An Album Launch

They say, 'Music is the raw expression of the self'; it is the anvil & hammer which beat-smiths & music craftsmen use to express themselves. Every strike, every melodious 'cling' & every heavy 'clang' produces an audio-visual piece of art; every beat & note an infusion and a reflection of the musician's soul, experiences and knowledge.

Music is the gateway to the musician's personal space, each beat a mood, each note a word and each tune a story to tell.



Koflow, one of Singapore's finest turntablist, will be having an album launch concert in conjunction with the release of his new album, 'The Turntable Instrumentalist'. The album is an autobiography of sorts, which sees Koflow exploring not only the boundless creative energy of the turntables but his roots as well, from turntablism to skate to hip-hop. Through his new album and music, it also gives you a glimpse of his decade-long journey as a performing artiste, an eclectic mix of old school hip-hop flavour, jazzy grooves and a dash of electronica.

Koflow will also be performing live collaboration sets with beatboxer Dharni, jazz experimentalist Aya Sekine and more.

To me, nothing beats a live act and seeing a master of the decks, working his scintillating magic on the decks is pure unadulterated turntablism porn. With each scratch and juggle coupled with the fluid motion of the hands on the vinyl, it has the power to induce the primal holler in you or a bead of sweat on your temple from the tension. The pleasure-satisfaction level is one of epic (stimulating) audio & visual proportions.

So, be prepared to be blown away by melodies that would move your soul, beats & bass that would make your bones rattle, grooves that would make your hands clap, get your feet moving and definitely, great vibes that would send a warm fuzzy feeling through you.

For someone who has been in the scene for a decade, all I can say is that it ain't about the big money or the fame. In essence, it is all about passion and spirit. You cannot take that away from anyone, for that would last you all the way till you breathe your last. So yeah guys, show some love and embrace the finest the local scene has to offer.
