Easy Star All-Stars

The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Radiohead, three bands which by far, are legends of their time and after. They are known for pushing the boundaries of music and were definitely ahead of their time. It is pretty much impossible to make their music any better than it already is. We often hear bands playing covers of songs from The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Radiohead, but these bands usually play it safe by sticking to pretty much the same style as how the original artistes played it. Apparently, New York City band, Easy Star All-Stars chose to do what most people fear to do, by infusing a different flavour into the songs of these legends. Their covers are all decked out in true reggae and dub style and boy, is it sweet sweet music to the ears.

Easy Star All-Stars took on the impossible task and remixed three albums, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (The Beatles), Dark Side Of The Moon (Pink Floyd) and Ok Computer (Radiohead). They tweaked the names of the album to reflect the deep reggae and dub flavours of the covers, Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band, Dub Side Of The Moon and Radiodread. The albums also features numerous reggae legends such as Toots & The Maytals, Horace Andy, Steel Pulse, U-Roy and Sugar Minott, just to name a few. The end result of rock mixed with reggae and dub is a match made in heaven, just like coffee and cigarettes: dark, strong, smooth and leaves you wanting for more. What better way to honour and pay tribute to these legends than this?
