You know, every now and then, we try to share with you all, the stuff that are either in our vinyl crates or on our music playlists. The bottom line is music that truly rock our boats and we hope it does the same for you too. This time round, we wanna introduce to you the band Demon Fuzz.
Imagine hard but mellow funk and soul, smooth jazz/afro-jazz and the driving force of blues rock all mixed together. The end result is Demon Fuzz. Demon Fuzz was the brainchild of Paddy Corea and his idea was to mix all his wide varied influences together, ranging from jazz, reggae, classical, blues, ska and calypso, to form a new sound. The band was formed in the late 1960s and their fresh new sound became known as Afro-Rock. The crowd in England simply adored the new sound that they were listening too.
They released their first album, 'Afreaka!', on 11th September 1970 and their second album, 'Roots & Offshoots' was released in 1976. Unfortunately, to my knowledge (and disappointment), these were the only two album releases they had. Somehow, they gradually faded into oblivion and there has not been much news about them after. A pity though, I really loved the sound that they had. It had that raw driving energy mixed with the gritty, down and dirty spaced out feel and that mellow blues and soul mood. The first word that came to my mind when I first listened to that was: 'Trippy'.
Well, words are just simply unable to do their music any justice. So, just listen and you will know what I mean.
