Dub Echoes

Dub Echoes is a film about Dub – the original "Drum and Bass" music packed full with effects that will send you into outta space and bring you back for a short reality check before launching you off again into ethereal reality. Born out of Reggae and Jamaican people's astonishing capacity for recycling and inventiveness, it would go on to influence the development of contemporary electronic music worldwide.

Three years in the making, this film marks both the 40th anniversary of the invention of Dub and the 20th anniversary of the death of King Tubby (January 28, 1941 - February 6, 1989), the genius legend behind the creation. This film features both Jamaican legends (U Roy, King Jammy, Lee Perry, Sly and Robbie, Bunny Lee, etc), and contemporary artists (Kode9, Roots Manuva, Howie B, Adrian Sherwood, etc). Directed by Bruno Natal and released on Soul Jazz Records, this film has already received many awards throughout the world.

For Reggae, Dub or just plain music lovers with an open mind, please do yourself a favour and check out this movie. You can find screening details here or if it's not screening in your country, buy the DVD! I can't wait for mine to arrive. By the way, did I mention there is a soundtrack to this?
